MAIN OBJECTIVES

The role of the Project Officer/Case Manager is to support the Project Manager, Malaysia, with the expansion and growth of The Centre towards global and local brands, particularly in Sabah, Malaysia, by assuring timely project implementation, case management and reporting with quality, as well as to support child labour remediation under the supervision of the Director of Global Child Labour Remediation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes, but is not limited to, the following specific tasks:
1. Support Project Manager(s) in implementing projects in Malaysia to guarantee the smooth implementation of the projects, including:
Support in preparing work plans and submit project-related reports for clients (e.g. progress report, baseline/endline assessment reports, impact reports, etc.) and for internal The Centre (e.g. KPIs, project status updates).
Liaise with stakeholders such as buyers (brands and retailers), supplying factories, plantations, and refineries, external consultants, implementing partners, local collaborators, community-based organisations, and community leaders, etc., to ensure quality and timely project execution.
Support the conduct and facilitation of training/capacity building/workshop as required by the project.
Support data collection for research projects (impact assessment, risk/needs assessment) under the supervision and guidance of the Project Manager and the Director-level in charge. Further, support the data analysis as needed.
Prepare the logistical and clerical needs of training sessions.
Bring to the attention of the Project Manager and, where necessary, the VP of Services and Products Asia, all challenges in a timely manner, and propose solutions and alternative strategies to achieve results.
Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge by summarising and documenting results, lessons learned and good practices from the implementation of the project.
2. Support child labour remediation-related works led by The Centre’s Director of Global CL Remediation, such as:
Conduct onsite rapid assessment and case analysis.
Support to develop remediation plans.
Monitor planned actions and assess children’s needs, situations, strengths and support networks, as well as help children adjust to changes and challenges in their lives.
Keep in close contact with different stakeholders, including children, family, teachers, school, partner organisations and clients, to ensure the ongoing cases.
Support to address the child protection risks during the case management.
Improve the contents of CLR library by mapping local resources, collecting laws and regulations.
Support trainings and workshops about child labour, etc.
Mobilise resources, facilitate the exchange of information and children’s participation in schools, training and the local community.
Write CLR-related reports and maintain case management-related records in English throughout the case period.
Coordinate with the admin team for the case budget and expenditure.
3. Regularly update The Centre’s Malaysia factsheet and conduct continuous research on child rights and related legal provisions.
4. Provide local logistic support for events and visits.
5. Participate and represent The Centre in events, conferences, and meetings as decided in cooperation with the VP of Services & Products Asia.
6. Requires travel from time to time (mostly domestic).
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or higher in social science, business development or business management.
A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a similar role with international exposure is a MUST.
Experience in conducting social audits/assessments is strongly preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Good command of both verbal and written English and Malay, knowledge of other South Asian languages is a plus.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Highly trustworthy and capable of handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Solid problem-solving and team management abilities.
Good computer skills, Office 365, etc.
